America in Need of New New Deal

Over the last 3 weeks or so, a lot of protests have erupted across America.

Altogether, these protests can now be interpreted as a revolution now unfolding.

The “Occupy” meme started with Occupy Wall Street and has spread to every city in the USA.

700 people were arrested in New York City.

The mainstream media has been caught with its pants down revising history and showing who they’re truly working for:

The protests stem from the simple fact that, according to US Census Bureau, 98.5% of American households earn less than $250,000 per year and the fact that CEOs earn close to 400 times the average worker’s salary.

The wealth disparity is the primary issue of this new revolution.

I have put together what I consider to be a new new deal that the wealthy American oligarchs will need to accept. It’s not perfect. But the message is simple:

  • Tax idle wealth and redistribute it equally to the people.

This needs to be done in order to bring back entrepreneurship and democracy, which go hand in hand. When democracy has been corrupted by a powerful group of oligarchs who write rules to establish monopolies, it’s no longer possible to have small businesses and it’s therefore no longer possible to have productive domestic industries.

The oligarchs know no country. They recognize no borders. They control trans-national corporations. They are the ones behind globalization and free trade. They care not about democracy. All they care about is how to buy legislative influence, so that they can establish and maintain legal monopolies (like the Federal Reserve) which benefit them.

They are a cartel of gangsters. Their business is racket. They offer “protection” from the very threats they themselves create (9/11, al Qaeda, bird flu, and all manner of imaginary threats to keep us demanding their “protection”).

This is exactly how the protection racket operates. Protection racket is a classic Mafia tactic used to extort money from small business owners. In the same way, the global trans-national leaders we call “politicians” who have betrayed our democratic form of government are now engaged in precisely this kind of racket, on an ongoing basis, to extort money for their campaigns (the campaigns of the super-wealthy) through the use of governments, militia, and taxation.

Dylan Ratigan is Right

Before any political reform can be achieved in America, there must first be a separation of business and state. I agree with that 100%, as I discussed previously in my separation of capitalism & democracy article.

This is what Dylan Ratigan is advocating right now amid the Occupy Wall Street protesters.

It is a constitutional amendment to get money out of politics. To re-equalize political influence.

The website is called GetMoneyOut.com

We need to get the word out about this quickly.

Separation of business and state is the right motto. It mirrors the historical separation of church & state. It is the much-needed first-aid for America’s democracy, before anything else is to be done.

The Open-Source Revolution

A message from a representative of the emerging global consciousness

We don’t want corporations to control things anymore.

We have grown up in a universe of open-source, collaborative idea sharing.

Everything we experience online is free and in infinite abundance.

We can produce a million copies of any document in a nanosecond.

This universe has never existed before.

It was only with the creation of the Internet that it became possible for such a universe to exist.

Having grown up with this new system for sharing information and collaborating with others, I see no need for corporations to control information, labour, capital, energy or any other resource.

We are fully capable of switching on the global collective mind – our open-source global intelligence – for the benefit of humanity as a whole, with profit for no one.

It is not a non-profit organization I am imagining, for a non-profit would imply that there can be a profit. There can’t be a profit.

The age of exponential growth, profit motive, secrecy, limited liability corporations, and other industrial-era monstrosities has come to an end.

What I see now is the opening of the third “I”: Information.

The third “I” brings about a further diminishment of the “I” (the ego as individual agent) in favour of greater collective collaboration toward the improvement of the general welfare.

The Internet is now a brain, in which we are the neurons. Our ideas and thoughts are now free to emerge and be distributed globally like never before.

In less than a second, a thought originated in Africa can reach 100,000 people around the world, separated by thousands of kilometers.

This has the psychological equivalent of removing all distance: we are all in the same room.

We are not only in the same room. We are in the same virtual macro-brain. We occupy the same virtual 1100 cubic centimeter space.

Our collective thoughts are automatically organized by category, by popularity, by date, by relevance, by author, by keywords, and at least 100 other dimensions.

We are indeed not just in the same room. We are in the same machine. Our brains are now integrated into the machine.

We have now entered into symbiosis with the artificial collective macro-brain we have created on the Internet.

How is this affecting society? It is causing us to reject all of the old notions of profit, greed, capitalism, corporations, and the most fundamental old notion of all: scarcity.

Having ditched the idea of scarcity, we can now think of abundance. It doesn’t take much, because we’re already used to an environment of information abundance.

We now merely have to translate the informational abundance into material abundance.

Everything that has ever been made in the physical world is now being open-sourced or has already been open-sourced.

This includes microchips (see open-source hardware on Wikipedia), solar panels and other renewable technologies, architecture (see Open Architecture Network), and so many more.

We are now in the process of open-sourcing natural resources and geography (see Venus Project), governments, city planning, and the list goes on and on.

We have become very good at open-source journalism, entertainment, and other forms of media. We of course do open-source software extremely well.

This is all starting to look like the dawn of a new civilization: the open-source civilization.

There is no turning back now. Just as there was no turning back for the luddites of the industrial revolution.

The next revolution has already begun: it’s the open-source revolution.

Armed with one brain, with 7 billion neurons communicating with delays of less than one second, we’re now starting to forge our new open civilization.

We have all of the tools to do this now. We can no longer entertain the idea of a doomsday or end of the world scenario, because we are now capable of rebuilding it in less than 2 months with entirely open-source information.

We have transcended the fundamental condition of scarcity which had doomed us to perpetual enslavement.

We are now destined to become free and self-governing, provided that we continue to maintain efficient and consistent engagement of all 7 billion neurons in this giant collective brain.

Together, we can bring about abundance. The abundance we’ve become accustomed to in the virtual world will soon be a feature of the real world.

Neo, Your Training is Now Complete

I read an article today on “what it’s like being a hot girl.”

It got me thinking. What *does* it take to get that girl?

I happen to think it’s a game of chance. Pure chance. If you’re a guy who approaches a girl once a month, you stand a very low chance of ever getting remotely close to what you want.
You need to approach women as often as they get approached.

I think the whole ‘quality’ men idea is only so that some can make tons of money from others’ suffering. Remember: Competition is the domain of males.

The mathematical fact is that there is one male for every female.

It is true that you can raise your mathematical odds of having success by making yourself appear to be “pre-selected” by women (and I’ll explain what that is), but this does not in any way imply “quality.”

The only way to get to “quality” is to be ruthless in your exploration. Again, numbers trump everything else.

It is a mathematical fact that there’s a guy out there for every girl.
This includes the gargantuan plethora of illiterate horny females and equally illiterate horny males that seems to populate the Earth presently.

Consider this the reason why there’s so much unemployment: illiteracy.

I would say the illiterate males might be more dangerous because they have a desire to enter positions of political power and are totally ignorant of their own ignorance.

Mathematical facts:
- Any marginally good-looking girl who ‘advertises herself’ (I will explain what this means) will be approached at least 50 times per day
- Any male who ‘advertises himself’ correctly will be approached more often and have to work less to get laid than a male who does not advertise himself
- For every male there’s a female

* Advertising oneself means doing deliberate things to increase your chances of having sex:
- Posting a photo of yourself looking “hot” (females)
- Wearing outrageous clothing and black fingernails to a nightclub (males)
- Going to a nightclub all dressed up with more make-up than it would take to cover up 9/11 (females)
- Getting “built” and doing everything in one’s power to look like a “hussler” (males)

Fact: By advertising yourself, you expose yourself to greater levels of ridicule.
The amount and intensity of ridicule you experience is directly proportional to the amount and intensity of your advertising.

There’s a natural drive for those who do not advertise themselves to ridicule those who do.

We all have some circuits inside which are “hard-wired.” These circuits manifest themselves in many differing ways. But at an archetypal level, those manifestations can all be traced back to one of many hard-wired circuits. We are oriented toward being deterministic, like dogs, cats, trees, or chimps.

The sole purpose of rationality (recently evolved) is to give us the option of having free will.
However, rationality tends to shape itself around hard-wired desires. This is shown by the phenomenon of “back-rationalization”, where a decision is given a rationale after the decision has already been made.

Here are some of those hard-wired circuits:
- We all seek approval from others; this is the approval-seeking circuitry.
- We all have a built-in desire to mate; this is the reproduction-seeking circuitry.
- We all need to defend the ideology that keeps us on good terms with our tribal leaders and therefore keeps us surviving; this is the ideological-survival circuitry.
- We all want to protect ourselves from uncertainty; this is the risk-aversion circuitry.
There are probably many more.

While it is not possible to *suppress* any of these circuits, it *is* possible to *observe* them as they happen, so as to become *consciously aware* of their effect on your life. Once that is done, it is possible for you to become an *enlightened human*, capable of what many would claim to be “insane” actions because you are no longer governed by these circuits.

It is my theory that humans have been given rationality so as to be able to *abstract* themselves
from the effects of these hard-wired circuits and to therefore be free to exercise their
*creativity*, free from the approval-seeking circuitry, or to exercise *eugenics*, free from reproduction-seeking circuitry, or to exercise *scientific scepticism* when overruling their ideological-survival circuitry, or to exercise *courage* when overruling their risk-aversion circuitry.

It is clear that some people are able to overrule these circuits, by observing, acknowledging their effects, and then cleverly controlling their actions (cognitive behavior influence) so as not to conform with the actions that the circuits would have automatically otherwise performed.

Neo=Neocortex

The function of our “neocortex” (the Matrix “Neo” was referring to this part of the brain) is our
most recently evolved newcomer to our cerebral environment. It is this part which has been given the ability to overrule those built-in circuits. We are able to consciously observe our impulses and to consciously control our actions. This is the reason why we have “free will,” if we choose to exercise it.

When you watch “The Matrix” with the idea that “Neo” is allegorical for the “neocortex”, you
begin to see an amazing set of connnections. Everything in that movie makes sense once you do that.
You see the references to “freedom” or “slavery”, “blue pill” or “red pill”, “determinism” and
“freewill” as nothing more than references back to the functions of the neocortex, namely to
“free us” from our primal unaware selves, from our deterministic hard-wired circuits.

“Wake up, Neo” literally is a call to “wake up” your neocortex.

Once that is done, “your training is now complete.”

Gold vs. History

I took the liberty of plotting the top events of the past 10 years on top of a chart of the gold price…

Notable coincidences:

2008 bottom = Obama election

2008 top = Bear Stearns collapse

All-time inflation-adjusted bottom = (roughly) 9/11

Also noteworthy is the acceleration in growth starting around fall of 2005, around the same time as YouTube started to enter the lexicon.

It’s also interesting how the sub-prime crisis began only a few months after the release of the Zeitgeist Movie, in 2007.

Could gold be tracking our own conscious (r)evolution?

Reforming Capitalism: A Manifesto

I have written a simple manifesto for reforming capitalism into a system that can coexist safely with democracy.

Reforming Capitalism – A Workable Solution (PDF)

Please read this, comment, and spread the message.

The reform centers on penalizing excess wealth so as to restore equal representation in our democratic government, recognizing the fact that democracy and unrestricted capitalism are fundamentally at odds with each other.

So far, our revolution has had little in the way of a definite manifesto with clear demands. This is what I wish to bring forward as my contribution to the Zeitgeist Movement / Venus Project / Ron Paul Revolution / whatever you may call the struggle of our times.

I hereby dedicate the attached PDF to the public domain.

“No Fundamental Right to Consume Food of Your Choice” – US Judge

The thin veil of the modern system of enslavement and dehumanization is starting to show.

In a case involving raw milk, a judge in the US has recently declared:

“no, Plaintiffs do not have a fundamental right to produce and consume the foods of their choice”

Go ahead, read for yourself.

This one move, in my mind, has undone all of 235 years of relative freedom Americans may have had (I say ‘may have’ because there have been many cases where that freedom has been systematically taken away).

Americans are now officially slaves (click to watch the story of your own enslavement).

In my view, this is the final straw. When you no longer have a right to consume the food of your own choice, it’s just like the privatization of water in Bolivia which sparked protests.

They’re coming for your food, America!

Then again, this has been going on for many years and I fear will precipitate into something a lot more sinister. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see…

Full JavaScript Interpreter for C# (.NET)

Stumbled across a beautiful JavaScript interpreter for .NET today, based on Google’s V8 engine.

It’s called JavaScript.NET, and even though it lacks in-depth documentation, it’s extremely easy to use.

I used it to integrate this AES – Counter algorithm (implemented in JavaScript) in my C# app. Tried Jint but that didn’t work. Too picky. But JavaScript .NET – based on the V8 engine – did the trick!

If you’re wondering what the AES Counter algorithm is about, it’s one of the many variants of AES but it has not been implemented in the .NET Framework.

On the Question of Moral Enforcement

In a society, who has the right to enforce a certain moral value?

Options:

  • The government (laws & police)
  • God
  • The people
  • No one

As I see it, these are the only options available.

Now, let’s look at a scenario…

Suppose I am a businessman and some thief is constantly demanding that I pay tribute in order to be left alone. Suppose that thief also happens to be a police officer (i.e. government). His threat is that if I do not pay my tribute, he will come with an army of at least 100 people and capture me and shut down my business and put me in jail.

I can call on ‘no one’, ‘God’, or ‘the people’ to enforce my view that I should not have to pay tribute to this thug.

90% of people will agree with my view, but 10% will actually believe that, “hey it comes with the territory.” That is, I got into business so I should expect this sort of thing and prepare for it.

What if my business can no longer operate because of the tribute I am paying, and thus the whole community would suffer because my services would no longer be available? In fact, even if the tribute is small, the very fact that “I should expect” this tribute means I have to charge more to my customers. Thus, my customers, who did nothing wrong, subsidize the tribute I am paying to this thug.

Here’s what I think should happen.

I would need to lead the people who are my customers and anyone else who is willing to participate in a revolt against this thug and his army. Now, how would such a revolt unfold? I say we should wait until the next time he comes around and I will not pay the tribute. At that point, he will proceed to unleash violence upon me and my group of people.

How should we react? Two options:

  • Non-violence
  • Violence

From a Darwinian point of view, the “violence” option is the best, because at least some of our people stand a chance of surviving. The “non-violence” option would almost surely result in all of us getting killed.

I leave this question open to the reader. I don’t have the answer.

But one thing is clear: the people are the only option for enforcing moral values (i.e. justice).

When you encounter phrases like “oh, God will punish them!” or “well, why don’t we make a law against that?” or “they’ll all go to hell!” or “that’s life; can’t do anything about it!” realize that it’s all false.

You can do something about it. In fact, you and your peers are the only ones who can do something about it. The government won’t help you (because you’re disenfranchised because the super-wealthy control the government) and God won’t help you because God doesn’t exist.

But there are two questions you need to ask:

  • Is it worth it? Will it have been worth it 7 generations from now?
  • Do we need to use violence?

The second question factors into the first. I’m inclined to believe that you should act only if you answer “Yes” to the first question and “No” to the second. But perhaps if the payoff is large enough for the first question, then “Yes” to the second is justified. I have no idea.

Suppose, for instance, that we have a guy who discovers free energy and begins selling it at reasonable prices to humanity. Then, all of a sudden the guy is captured by police and jailed and his business is shut down. Furthermore, the government begins destroying his inventions and starts a campaign to push all of the world’s nations into war (World War III), so that the resulting reconstruction can jump-start bank balance sheets.

You look out seven generations into the future and see a world resembling the dark ages, with poverty, starvation, despotism, and war. All of which could’ve been prevented by violent action against the government destroying those free energy machines.

It’s a tough moral question, but I say this because I truly see two possible futures for humanity:

  1. Massive contrived death and destruction for several decades, then reconstruction, in order to bring about “growth” on bank balance sheets, as in World War II
  2. An end to the fiat banking system, an end to plutocratic rule, and the beginning of an age of global prosperity fueled by technology, as in Zeitgeist Moving Forward

We need to ask ourselves, right now, no more delaying, the question: would we be willing to use violence to steer the world toward future #2? To what extent do we wish to sacrifice ourselves (and our morals) for that future?

Trade Alert: Gold Stocks

As the great Robert Allen says,

“You’ll kick yourself if you miss this!”

Gold stocks are about to move up 200% in the coming months.

Here is confirmation (a picture is worth 1000 words):

Note – I added the ‘undervalued’ and ‘overvalued’ labels for clarity.

The source article for that image is an article by Canada Free Press, in which the author writes:

“Using the implied value of a defined group of global gold stocks, BMO calculated the internal rate of return to measure how gold stocks have underperformed compared to the yellow metal. Over a period of nearly 20 years, BMO’s group of global gold stocks has never been this inexpensive. Only twice—during the Tech bubble in 2000 and the financial crisis of 2008—has the internal rate of return compared so closely with the price of gold bullion.”

RBC Capital Markets also sees potential in unpopular, undervalued gold equities and urges readers to take “a fresh look” at gold companies. RBC says gold companies currently have margins that are at record highs and it believes margins could be approximately $1,200 an ounce for the next 12 to 24 months. This is substantially higher than the 10-year average of $320 an ounce. Comparatively, many current projects were economically sound at $700-$1,000 per ounce gold prices, creating $300-500 an ounce margins.

Right now, BMO calculates the total cost to produce an ounce of gold at roughly $900 an ounce, while the company can turn around and sell that ounce for upwards of $1,400. This puts margins near 40 percent, roughly twice what they were in 2007 and four times higher than in 2000.

Time to get some gold equities before it’s too late!
