Dacris Software Releases NetXP 4.0

DACRIS SOFTWARE INC., July 19, 2006 -- Today Dacris Software announces the final release of NetXP 4.0. After many months of gathering user feedback, development, and beta testing, NetXP 4.0 has finally arrived. NetXP 4.0 is primarily about delivering features requested by our customers, and fixing bugs that were found in NetXP 3.0.

NetXP 4.0 was designed from the ground up for .NET 2.0 and Visual Studio 2005. That means no support for .NET 1.1 and previous .NET versions. NetXP 3.0 will continue to be available for those users who are not ready to migrate to .NET 2.0.

The licensing system for NetXP 4.0 has been slightly changed. The changes can be summarized as follows (detailed in the remainder of this article):

• Some controls must now be licensed to be used. These include CommandBar, ViewBar, ListBar, StatusBar, DockContainer, TabGroups, TabControl, ControlList, and XPTaskPane. In the trial version, these controls display a nag screen.
• A source code license is now available. It is only available as a site license.

NetXP 3.0 will continue to be available, completely free. However, no support will be provided to unlicensed users of NetXP 3.0.

Licensing

The following licensing prices apply to NetXP 4.0.

• Single License - $199 per developer
  The full version binaries. Free support, free distribution, and upgrades / additional licenses at 30% discount.
• Site License - $1699
  The full version binaries. Free support, free distribution, and upgrades at 30% discount.
• Source-Code Site License - $3099
  Full source code is included. License is site-wide. Free support, and upgrades at 30% discount.

Features

NetXP 4.0 has made great strides in terms of compatibility. Right-to-left reading and localization are now fully supported in all controls. Designer support is also provided for all controls.

In NetXP 4.0, a vast expansion of the control library has been made, with focus on introducing many new controls as well as enhancing existing controls. Many long-awaited user experience controls are now included in NetXP 4.0.

New controls include:

• ControlList, which provides a highly-extensible list-view control
• ViewFinder, similar to the Outlook 2003 folder browser

Enhanced controls include:

• Docking, with designer support even for tabbed groups
• DesktopAlert, now inheritable for maximum customization
• CommandBar, with enhanced designer support and many new features
• Many other controls enhanced according to user suggestions
